Seeing so many newly graduated students going to participate in training and applying for CCIE certification, I want to give them some advice. The era when obtaining a CCIE certificate equals a high salary has passed. Now many paper CCIEs even can’t find a job with a monthly salary of 500 US dollars. Some people have submitted hundreds of resumes after passing the CCIE certification exam, and can’t find a job. Now employers will not value candidates who hold CCIE certificates but without a few years of work experience. They may even weigh a CCIE as a CCNP. Seeing so many newly graduated students taking part in CCIE certification training to take the CCIE certification, I think there must be some misunderstandings. The training and the exam take at least 8,333 to 10,000 US dollars. What if you pass CCIE certification? With no practical working experience, you even don’t know DDF, ODF, SDH, DDN or ATM.
The commercial network is completely different from the laboratory network. Although the laboratory can realize certain miniaturization and reproduction of the macro network, the complex application environment and traffic model in the operation network, as well as the work experience accumulated in engineering practice, the concept of a global network, and the overall planning and understanding of the network, cannot be obtained in the laboratory in a few months. I suggest you accumulate more work experience. You don’t have to find a big company. Small companies often give you more opportunities. With several years of work experience, if you think your work has something to do with CCIE and you still need to take the exam, it will be better to take the exam then, and the probability of passing will be much higher.
If you feel it necessary to check your learning results after working for several years, I also have some suggestions. In terms of learning content, it is suggested to strengthen the study of TCP / IP protocol, which is very important and the foundation of future study. If you are only familiar with the command, you will only be a skilled worker. When the foundation is laid, you can learn by analogy. I recommend you to see the TCP / IP Detailed Explanation Volume 1 protocol. This is not Jeff Doyle’s Routing TCP / IP. There are three volumes in Chinese, Volume 1 Protocol, Volume 2 Implementation, and Volume 3 Transaction. In addition, the Sniffer tool is a good assistant for learning protocols. Also, you should do more experiments.
For rack-mount server, according to the equipment and IOS list published on the Cisco website, two Catalyst 3550, six 2621 or 3640, three backbones, and one terminal server are required.
