Have you ever bought someone special in your life a beautiful pendant, but the moment was ruined because you didn’t have anything to put them in? This holiday season, go the extra mile by creating a handmade gift box for a necklace that shows your loved one you wanted them to feel special.
Below you’ll find a guy that will help you create jewelry boxes like a pro in no time.
Gather Your Materials
The first thing you need to do after you view these pendants is gathering all your materials. First, you’ll want to think of the type of custom box you want to make for your loved one.
For an easy jewelry box, you’ll need things like:
- Fold and scoring tools
- Ribbon and other decorative accessories
- Rulers
- Scissors
- Round or square object
- Card stock-like material
It’s best to gather all your materials beforehand, so you can continue your project by looking for them during a crucial phase. Not to mention it allows you the time to see if all your accessories will work with the material you’ve chosen to make the box out of.
Draw a Circle
Taking the round or square object, use the pencil to trace the outline of it on the card stock-like material.
It’s best to do this in one corner of the card stock because you’ll need to draw an identical circle on the other side to act as the supporting piece.
Find the Center
Next, you will want to find the center of the circle and then mark it into quarters. Ensure that the lines you create intersect at the midpoint of the circles.
This is a step you don’t want to skip because it’s crucial to the construction of your custom necklace box.
Draw an Arc
After this is done, use the round or square object to create an arc on the inner side of the circle you drew on the card stock. You’ll continue to repeat this until you’ve drawn the same arc in the other 3 quadrants and the second circle.
Cut the Shape Out
Here is the tricky part: you will need the scissors to cut out the circular or square shape you’ve drawn. Ensure you’re cutting around the outer edges of the shape to give yourself some wiggle room in case you make a mistake.
Don’t cut the circles apart, but instead, leave them connected.
Score the Edges
Once you’ve cut the shapes out take your scoring tool and score the arcs you drew for both of the circles. After you’ve scored the edges you will then fold them.
After folding them, place your custom jewelry inside your DIY jewelry box and close it using the ribbon or other closing accessories you’ve set aside.
