The Brief and Only Prayer Guide That Youll Ever Need

Posted on November 5, 2022

The concept of prayer is thousands of years old. People of all faiths (or lack thereof) participate in prayer. They may pray to their God(s), themselves, the world in general, or a general higher power.

Prayer sometimes looks conventional, with hands clasped and heads bowed, but it comes in many forms. If you’re a spiritual person, you’ve likely engaged in prayer at some point whether it’s for chakra alignment, direct conversation with your higher power, or reflection.

We’re here with a brief prayer guide to help you get closer to your higher power of choice, so keep reading.

Where Should You Pray?

In most cases, people can pray wherever they feel it’s appropriate to do so. The higher power you’re praying to will be able to hear you regardless of whether you’re in a place of worship, in your room, in your car, or sitting outside in a peaceful area.

Try to pray somewhere quiet where you can be alone (unless you intentionally involve others in your prayers). Avoid distractions so you can focus on what you’re thinking.

In a pinch, you can even pray during a hectic situation. Try to clear your mind and center yourself, however.

When Should You Pray?

Again, there’s rarely a wrong time to pray. In certain faiths, there are specific times at which people pray. For example, Muslims have five official times of prayer throughout the day.

If this isn’t the case for your faith, you have more flexibility to work with. Pray when it feels right to do so. Some people choose to pray daily (often to give thanks for their day or their meals), but you have to do what feels right for you.

What Can You Pray For?

In general, you want to pray for positive things. Pray for things that can be beneficial not only for you but for the world as a whole. Do not pray for bad things to befall others.

You may have a prayer for anxiety, a prayer for success, a prayer for someone’s health, and so much more. As long as your prayer would not lead to anything bad for yourself or someone else, it’s valid.

Do You Need Special Supplies?

In most cases, all you require to pray is yourself. Some religions have objects that go alongside their prayer sessions, but if you don’t have the object in question, it’s okay to pray without it.

Some people like having something to focus their energy on while they pray, like a rosary or a prayer candle. At the end of the day, you can pray with nothing but the clothes on your back if you must.

Your higher power will still hear you.

That’s All for This Quick Prayer Guide

Hopefully, this quick prayer guide is helpful for you on your prayer journey. Remember, prayer is personal. There’s no right or wrong way to do it as long as you feel like you’re getting in touch with our higher power.
