Core Responsibilities Of Human Resource Manager

Core Responsibilities Of Human Resource Manager

Posted on July 22, 2022

Employees are the core resource of any company, and every organisation needs to get the best talents on board. Candidates who join a company also have certain expectations such as a conducive environment, growth opportunities, updated work tools, etc.

It is the role of the human resource department to hire the best candidates, train them and meet their work requirements. Given this department’s importance to the company, you can always find many lucrative opportunities in this field. Countries like Canada which has a thriving economy, and a wide skill gap are some of the best places to find suitable job roles.

Programs such as human resources management in Canada can go a long way in ensuring that you have the right skills to find good job roles in this field. Students who are keen to work as human resource managers will also benefit from this degree. However, it’s also important to understand the responsibilities of such a job role.

Hiring suitable candidates

Screening suitable candidates for each department and job profile is perhaps the most important responsibility of an HR manager and perhaps the most complex too. This process is not limited to posting job requirements in portals as they are also required to put strategic solutions in place that will attract the best candidate.

It’s not simply limited to acquiring the best people but rather letting candidates know what they can gain from joining this organisation. This means that the HR manager also plays an integral role in promoting the company’s brand reputation which is needed to communicate the values, culture and work-life balance of the place.

Training candidates

The HR is the first person that a candidate gets in touch with and their initial impression of the company is based on that interaction. An HR manager not only sets the company’s expectations but also finds out the candidate’s expectations from the company.

They are also responsible for training and upskilling the candidate to ensure maximum productivity and high-quality work. The HR manager not only handles the training and development of the new hire but also puts tools and skill exercises in place for their skill development. Additionally, they also take the candidate through company policies as well.

Formulate workplace policies

An organisation has numerous employees working under the same roof and while they have independent work processes to follow, they also need to have rules in place to reduce any conflicts and design an effective workplace.

By implementing policies, the HR manager ensures that operating procedures remain standard throughout the organisation. This includes everything from deciding shift timings to meal breaks and time-off benefits.

Maintaining work culture

The job responsibility does not stop at putting workplace policies but also includes maintaining the organizational culture. This includes creating an environment that allows candidates to be productive and eliminate any stress factors.

An HR manager is also the link between staff and the management where they take complaints and suggestions to the business heads. Similarly, new rules and policies designed by the management are shared and implemented by the company by the HR.

They also ensure an open-door policy that allows the employees to communicate their problems and get relevant solutions to their issues.
