So, you have a special event coming up but don’t know what to wear to make yourself look good – because, when you look good, you feel good.
Here are some tangible tools to simplify your life, especially when it comes to choosing attire for some special event.
Some Preliminary Questions
Before you even begin your search for the perfect attire, you will have to ask yourself a couple of questions. We always feel nervous and anxious about the potential outfit to wear for a special event, fidgeting about the potential dress codes, what you should wear and the venue.
So, the first question you should ask is about the venue – is the event taking place on the beach or the ballroom. Also, what time is the event – if it is during the day, it will be very different than in the evening. It is less formal during the day, but it is more formal during the night.
Where the event is and what the event is are both very impactful in terms of deciding what you are going to wear.
Assess the Dress Code
The second thing that you absolutely must know about is the dress code. You must know the level of dress. According to one of the biggest global vintage stores, the event invitation should specify the level of dress expected and supposed to be – so, whether or not it is semi-formal, cocktail, black-tie, or white-tie.
The dress code should be mentioned somewhere on the invitation. Suppose the invitation mentions a cocktail, in which case, you know that you will be looking for the best cocktail dresses in Australia.
That said, when you receive an invitation to a special event, make sure that you don’t throw it away but save it so you can refer back to it. When nothing has been mentioned on the invitation, and you are confused, you can always approach somebody else going to the event or the host and ask them about the dress code.
Analyze How You Want to Look & Feel
As we mentioned before, looking good and feeling good – go hand in hand. That said, you must analyze how you want to look and feel. Ask yourself whether you want to look glamorous or do you want to look elegant.
Also, do you want to look conservative, do you want to look chic, or do you want to look sophisticated? The way you want to look and feel will also dictate and help you form a mental picture of what you are searching for – for that special event.
So, if you know that you want to be full-on glam, perhaps, you will opt for a more glamorous color with a more glamorous neckline and a more glamorous length of your dress. Also, if you want to be fashion-forward and want to stand out a little bit, you have other options to choose from, such as a red jumpsuit.
You get the point – you have to kind of have the mental picture of how you want to look and feel to make your dress search for the event much simpler.
