Safety Tips to Minimize Mining Accidents

To work in mines is not an easy task, instead, it is full of risks. We often hear news of people getting killed in various kinds of mine accidents. Mines annually take a lot of lives. Sometimes the negligence of the worker and the owner can result in such disasters. However such disasters can be avoided and human lives can be saved by adopting techniques that can help avoid the occurrence of incidents in the first place. 

However, there should be emergency teams available also in case of unavoidable accidents to save people. To learn about a few main and essential tips to avoid mining accidents, stay with us. 

1. Do not Take Dangers For Granted

The most essential step before starting your work in the mines is to realize the hard fact that it is not an easy task. It will be filled with hazards. Mentally prepare yourself for such hazards. Understand that only being vigilant and staying alert will help you face and counter the potential risks in the mining industry. 

Even keep an eye on your colleagues so that in case they show negligence you can alert them of the potential danger. However, in case of hazardous events such as a fire in the mine contact emergency like fire system maintenance. And in case of other such events contact respective emergencies and get out of the place as soon as possible. 

2. Plan and Communicate Thoroughly 

The task is not only about early and effective compilation. Safety is another dimension that must be kept in mind while planning any task. At places where you can have the machines to work properly without human interference such as Bore Pump Stations, avoid the use of manpower. Use manpower where it is necessary. And make a plan of safety and spread that plan among all the colleagues for their safety. This measure will boost the quality of work as everyone will be working vigilantly and effectively as a team. 

Keep assessing risks with time and try to eliminate those risks as much as possible. If the risk still exists, communicate the information to your supervisors and deal with the danger. Therefore planning before starting work is effective as long as it inculcates all the dimensions of the work the communication should never be in one direction. Always allow two-way communication. 

3. Get Training and Use Safety Equipment

The safety training given to all the members of the workforce is a must. Never show any laziness while attending those training sessions. The training should not only be given to the new members instead it should be for all the members of the workforce. The training should be a combination of theoretical and practical sessions. 

Adopt all safety measures while working from helmets, safety glasses to gloves, etc. never take anything for granted. Wear them all the time. There have been events when people were saved because they were wearing safety equipment, especially helmets. In case you receive any injury, immediately seek medical attention.
