Free Eco 4 Birmingham

What is ECO4?

Posted on August 23, 2022

The ECO4 scheme, the latest funding initiative to improve energy efficiency in UK homes, is now available. The latest PAS2030 certification is required for any installers who wish to participate in the scheme. This is where the British Assessment Bureau can assist. Installers who want to participate in the scheme and receive government funding can get PAS2030 certification as well as Trustmark registration.

What’s ECO4?

ECO4 is, as you can see from its name, the fourth the stage of the Energy Company Obligation scheme. It is funded by the UK government and helps make homes more efficient, reduce fuel poverty, and make energy more affordable.

Below are the some of the benefits in ECO 4 scheme

  • Free Loft Insulation Birmingham
  • Free Eco 4 Birmingham
  • Free Solid wall insulation Birmingham
  • Free Solar Panel Birmingham
  • Free Room in the roof insulation Birmingham
  • Free Boiler Installation Birmingham
  • Free First-time central heating Birmingham
  • Free Under Floor Insulation Birmingham
  • Free Cavity Wall Insulation Birmingham

Why are ECO4 and being introduced?

The government realizes that users will have lower bills if they address energy affordability head-on, at the source. This is because they are improving energy efficiency in their homes. It also creates work for installation companies, creating a win-win situation.

The energy prices have increased dramatically over the last few months making it a significant issue for homes to be efficient. The EC04 scheme is designed to improve the comfort of low-income residents by installing efficient heating systems and insulation in their homes. This will have a positive impact on society and the economy as a whole.

The fourth stage of the Energy Company Obligation scheme is now complete. It has already made a significant impact on the energy efficiency in 2.4 million homes, since its inception in 2013. The government has committed to continue the scheme through 2026, at a cost per year of PS1 billion.

These changes align with the government Heat and Buildings Strategy which details how the UK will decarbonise its homes to achieve a net zero target by 2050. It is important to improve the homes’ fabric so they can transition to renewable heating. Existing boilers will not be used if they aren’t suitable for low-carbon heating. While making homes more comfortable and safer to live in, they will also be strengthened to withstand climate change. The government Heat and Buildings Strategy creates policies to address any future threats, including poor indoor air quality, flooding risk, and water shortages.

Independent installation standards are required for insulation provided by the ECO scheme as described in the Publicly Available Specification. When developing suitable measures for a home, the standards require that a house be assessed. These standards address the risk of global warming-related heat waves.

Current estimates indicate that ECO4 will need to upgrade approximately 450,000 homes over its four-year span, in order to prevent fuel poverty in the future.

The ECO scheme in England will be run alongside two other government initiatives – HUG and Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. They will offer a complete support package for homes who are struggling to be energy efficient.

When is ECO4 funding available?

The ECO4 was scheduled to start in April 2022. This has been moved to July 2022.

How can I benefit from ECO4 for my installation company?

Installers have good news as most homeowners are struggling to pay their energy bills. This means that many will be interested in the ECO4 program. Installers will have to be careful about how they operate and what customers they serve.

Targeting customers who meet the updated qualifying criteria will be required. It appears that eligibility rules will change, and there may not be any assistance for those who fall within the EPC bands B, C and A.

Homeowners with income-related government benefits and earnings below PS31,000 are likely to receive grants. The home must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), between D and G. Customers may have difficulty understanding the qualification criteria.

Installers who are unable or unwilling to create a customer list will be able to purchase qualified data from lead generation firms. This information will already have been sorted to make sure that the recipients of the ECO4 grant are eligible and can be used by the installer to install their new ECO facilities.
